Video Hits Coca Cola Live 06 at Federation Square

2 entries in 2 day, I’m doing quite well. :D

So I went into the city the other day to see the first Video Hits Coca Cola Live 06 at Federation Square show for the year. It was basically a free mini concert in the city of Melbourne.

Phrase, Augie March, Something for Kate and Wolfmother where the promoted line-up and since I’m a Wolfmother fan I couldn’t pass this opportunity up (I missed out on going to their concert the previous night, work sucks heh).

The show started at 8:30am so a 7:00am wake up was required to make it there moderately on time. Working till 10:00pm the night before and the fact I usually get up around 12:00pm made this little adventure a bit of a challenge but I had to overcome it for the sake of mankind. :D

Cold Sunday morning rule! :D

I went to the show aiming to mainly get some good crowd shots of people rocking it up, and generally having a good time. It ended up being harder than I though. As I didn’t have a media pass I had to either be behind, next to, or in the crowd. Thus I didn’t get many photos of people facing my general direction. Bah I think I managed quite well. :)

Phrase

After numerous sound checks and what not, Phrase jumped on stage and did their thing. They were not really my type of music, but good all the same.

Clear View

Success, my first decent crowd shot. He was tall enough to have a clear view to the stage and for me to have a clear shot to take. I waited for a few people so slowly move till I had it how I wanted, he looked my way, and SNAP :D

Camera Dude

This camera guy stood there for close to 4 hours covering the event for a local channel. You got to respect that. My feet dead and mind would be off with the fairies. lol. Around a good 70% of the show were sound checks and people moving equipment for the bands.

Random Moose

Don’t you just love random moose’s that turn up?

Smile

This is just a random cute gal with a great smile. She stood out a lot, probably because I’m a guy lol. That said, she did have a bright red headband with white spots. :D

Augie March

This is Augie March. They were the 2nd act to play. I really like this photo because the guy on the far right sums up perfectly how a lot of the people there felt. This was mainly because Wolfmother, the headline act where only going to “talk” to us and weren’t actually playing for us. The fucking promoters made out that they were going to play. Bah!!

Ah well, apart from the large amount on time between the acts Augie March gave me some hope that this would be a worth wile experience.

Couple

During my random strolls around the crowd I ran into this couple and took a photo of them, they were there with (I think) their 2 kids. They were impressed with the photo. Good to know I have some fans out there. :D

Crazy Impulse

lol this would have to be my favourite out of the bunch. As far as I could tell, not many of the photographers there were that interested in the crowd, thus I think I was the only one to get this shot. :D It made me chuckle.

Rock On

Rock on brother! :)

Something for Kate

Something for Kate! Nearly 4 hours later and the last act for the day, Something for Kate were the highlight for me. They put in a lot more effort into their performance than the other 2 bands. This was just their sound check lol.

Emo

Into The Heavens

Crazy Chilled

This is Something for Kate giving it their all! I love the contrast in emotions both the band members are going through.

Surfing The Teenyboppers

So many…. I guess u could call them teenyboppers, a lot of emos and a lot of random people who just happened to be there. This particular guy tried throughout the concert to get up, all but this one failed. Of course this just had to be during Something for Kate :D . But quite the achievement though and for that I take my hat off to him. :P He probably stayed up for a good minute or close to that anyways.

And yes I got photos of all the failed attempts, but all u can see are a few body parts in the air as he went down.

Hmmm well that’s about it from me. Wrote a bit of this before and after work so I’m not sure how (if at all) it affected this. It took a while though. lol

Connection terminated….. (god I’m a nerd) :D

About Me

Personal Info

Hi my name is Andrew Leoszko. I was born on the 21/02/1986 and raised in Melbourne, Australia.

During primary school I always said I wanted to be an Architect. But ever since the first few days of high school my ideal job has changed many times over. Towards the end of high school I spent a lot of my time behind a computer screen and as a result learnt a great deal about computers and their workings. Because of this I was split between a keen interest in the arts, such as photography, graphic design and digital art, and another keen interest in computers.

When it came to choosing my University/TAFE courses I decided that my knowledge of computers was greater than my skill as an artist. I am currently in my final year of completing an Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Engineering at RMIT.

In 2005 I went to www.deviantart.com and realised that I had created an account there a few years earlier and decided to put up some assorted pieces of art that I had created over the years. Soon I found myself addicted to the site and started experimenting and submitting more art. At the time my family had a simple point and click Kodak LS443 camera and I found myself using that more and more. I started looking online at all the latest cameras that I would possibly consider getting but I had no real intent to actually follow through with all of that. I hate spending money.

Then towards the end of 2005 I found myself randomly wandering around the city and literally just turned into a camera store looking for a price, 4 camera stores later I had myself a Canon 20D. That whole action was completely not what I would normally do, but never-the-less I had finally got my very own camera.

Now I am rethinking my life and testing the water of photography

Why I’m blogging!

I hate writing with a pen but I don’t mind typing and I want to keep some form of a visual diary for my photography. After a little thinking I created an account here and bobs-your-uncle I now have a visual diary/journal/blog thingo… I think :D
